Selfish Self-Care Sundays with Salima: Your Bi-Weekly Mental Health Boost

I’m Salima Jadavji, MSW, RSW, C.Hyp™, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to our first “Selfish Self-Care Sunday” email! And pretty timely considering tomorrow is our Thanksgiving Holiday in Canada.

Get togethers and preparing for festive events can sometimes make us feel wonky as the giving we do happens in our day to day work activities and then again when we are in our home environments.

As a fellow helping professional, I know how easy it is to pour ourselves into our work, often at the expense of our own wellbeing.

That’s why I’ve created this bi-weekly series – to remind us all that self-care isn’t just important, it’s essential and yes, a little selfish (in the best way possible!).

I would love for you to stay on this journey with me if you want gentle & consistent nudges, tips and a chance to reflect about how to put yourself first. However, we are all at different places in our journey and this may not be your thing for right now. If that is the case, please scroll to the bottom and unsubscribe. I would never want to be anything but a source of hope, joy and professional valuable advice for you.

IF YOU ARE STILL HERE, here’s a snapshot of me preparing for my own self-care Sunday:

I spend my Sundays recharging and preparing for the week ahead.

Today, that looks like a mindful walk in nature, followed by journaling and setting intentions for the week.

This ritual helps me start each week grounded and centered, ready to show up fully for my clients and myself.

Remember, we can’t pour from an empty cup!

What does your Sunday self-care routine look like? Especially the day before our Thanksgiving Holiday?

I’d love to hear about it – just hit reply and share!

SALIMA’S SELFISH SELF-CARE TIP:
This week, practice saying “no” to one non-essential request. Remember, every “no” to someone else is a “yes” to yourself.
Journal Entry: Reflect on how it feels to prioritize your needs.

Now, here are three things I’m looking forward to this week:

1. Preparing to host my free virtual monthly webinar on 10/25 at 1pm EST, called Mental Beauty Sessions SIGN UP HERE this month is about building resilience for helping professionals
2. Launching new slots for my “Name It, Tame It, & Take Back Control” program
3. Deciding on what dish I am going to carry my meal in for the family Thanksgiving get together…yes I am still figuring it out…

Wishing you a week filled with self-compassion and growth,

Salima Jadavji

… and all of us at the Dare To Heal team 💜
