Nurturing My Inner Child: A Sunday Self-Love Ritual

I’m writing this at 8:15 AM on Sunday morning.

This is me.

As much as I can, on Sunday mornings I make a point of practicing a self-love routine that nurtures my inner child.

I try to start every week this way because it helps me reconnect with my core self and set a loving tone for the days ahead.

As mental health and health care professionals, we often unintentionally neglect our own emotional needs while caring for others.

This routine is my way of practicing what I preach.

Things I love about this Sunday morning routine are:

-The quiet moments of self-reflection
-The positive affirmations that boost my self-esteem
-The sense of groundedness it provides

Things I’d like to add to it:

I’m considering incorporating some gentle yoga or stretching to further connect with my body

Sundays always feel kind of sacred now, and I’m grateful for this time to shower myself with the love and care I so often give to others.

It’s a powerful reminder that self-care IS selfish AND it’s 100% essential for our wellbeing and our ability to help others effectively.

So what does this routine look like specifically?:

– Journaling to check in with my feelings
– Speaking kind words to myself in the mirror
– Visualizing my inner child and offering her comfort and reassurance
– Setting intentions for the week ahead

SALIMA’S SELFISH SELF-CARE TIP: Write a compassionate letter to your younger self. What words of comfort or wisdom would you offer? This exercise nurtures self-compassion and helps heal past wounds.

If you’re up for it, I’d love it if you’d reply and share your favourite self-care routine (especially if we haven’t met yet!), and how you nurture your inner child.

Let’s inspire each other to prioritize self-love!

Wishing you a week filled with self-compassion and growth,

Salima Jadavji
